Info Sec Pledges Efforts for Journalists' Welfare

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana has assured journalists of the government's commitment to enhancing their welfare, enabling them to work devotedly and honestly for the country.


Speaking at an event on January 24, Farzana highlighted the Ministry's ongoing efforts, under the leadership of Adviser Nahid Islam, to support sick, distressed, financially struggling, and elderly journalists. "The ministry is working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of journalists," she said.

The event, organized by the Bangladesh Sangbadik Kallyan Trust (BSKT) and the Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ), aimed to distribute stipend cheques to talented children of journalists from Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, and Khagrachari districts.

BSKT Managing Director M Abdullah, along with Deputy Commissioner and Chattogram Press Club (CPC) interim committee convener Farida Khanom, attended the event at the Chattogram Circuit House conference room. Farzana also pledged to push for an increase in the trust’s financial allocation.

The event featured speeches from Syed Abdal Ahmed, Member of the Media Reform Commission and Executive Editor of Daily Amar Desh, CMUJ President Mohammed Shah Nowaz, CPC Member Secretary Zahidul Karim Kachi, The People’s View Editor Osman Gani Mansur, CMUJ General Secretary Saleh Noman, and CPC EC Member Mustafa Nayim.

Later, Mahbuba Farzana distributed stipend cheques to the meritorious children of journalists.
