Shehabuddin Ahmed Nafa



Permanent member of the National Press Club and veteran journalist, Shehabuddin Ahmed Nafa, is no more. He passed away at a hospital in the capital today, Sunday at 4:30 pm (Innalillahi wainna ilayhe rajeun). He was 76 years old. He is survived by a son and numerous relatives, colleagues and admirers.

He started journalism as the editor of the weekly Kaifiyat newspaper published from Chaumuhani. He served in important positions in various English dailies for a long time, including the Independent, Daily Star and the now defunct Bangladesh Times.

Today, Sunday, after the Isha Namaz-e-Janaza at the Science Lab Baitul Ma'mur Jame Masjid, the leaders expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Nafa. In a statement, the leaders said that the deceased will be buried at the Banani Graveyard.

National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan wished Shehabuddin Ahmed well and expressed deep condolences to his bereaved family members. – Press release
