Patuakhali: Moderate to heavy rainfall has continued over the Kalapara coast of Patuakhali for the past three years under the influence of a deep depression. The Meteorological Office has recorded 60 mm rainfall in the district from 9 am on Friday to 9 am today on Saturday.

Due to hostile weather, public life has come to a standstill. Common people are suffering. Incessant rains have caused waterlogging in various low-lying areas. Aman fields are submerged in rain water. The farmers are worried. Meanwhile, the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata is turbulent due to deep depression. The height of water in the rivers and the intensity of the wind has also increased more than usual. All seaports, including Pyara at Patuakhali, have been asked to display local warning signal No. 03 in case of gale force winds over the coastal areas. All fishing trawlers have been asked to remain in safe harbor until further notice.

Didar Uddin Ahmed Masum, President of Mahipur Fishery Owners Cooperative Association, said that the fishermen have returned safely from the sea with trawlers. The rest of the fishing trawlers have taken safe shelter in different parts of the shore. - Gofran Biswas Palash
