Rains likely to drench country in next 24hr: BMD

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka of the country in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Thursday.


“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office update.

The country’s highest 54 millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Chattogram’s island Sandwip upazila in 24 hours till 6am on Thursday.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the BMD.

The country’s highest temperatures were recorded in Rangpur at 37.5 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm Wednesday while the lowest temperature 24.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Feni till 6am on Thursday, reports UNB.
