Rains likely to drench the country in next 24hrs: Met Office

Rain or thundershowers likely in all divisions including Dhaka in 24 hrs



Dhaka, Sept 20 - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka of the country in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Friday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office update.

Country’s highest 15 mm rainfall was recorded in Rangamati in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.

Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rangamati, Feni and Brahmanbaria and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the BMD.

The country’s highest temperatures were recorded in Sylhet at 38.3 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours while the lowest temperature 24.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Bandarban till 6am on Friday.-UNB
