Sylhet records highest rainfall

Sylhet district has recorded 404.8 millimeters of rainfall from 6am yesterday to 9am today, the highest rainfall of the district.


Shah Md. Sajeeb Hossain, assistant director of the Sylhet Meteorological Department, confirmed the rainfall, noting that it has surpassed the district's previous highest record of 309 millimeters, set on July 2, 2023.

In the last 24 hours, 156 millimeters of rainfall was recorded from 12noon to 3pm on Saturday, 35 millimeters from 3pm to 6am and 206.2 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in 12 hours from 6pm to 6am today.

Due to heavy rainfall, the water levels in the rivers of Sylhet have risen significantly and are now nearing the danger level. In some areas, the river water has already crossed the danger mark.

The Meteorological Office sources said that rain will continue in Sylhet for three more days, reports BSS.
