China successfully launched a Long March-12 carrier rocket on Saturday, sending a new group of internet satellites into orbit.

The rocket lifted off at 3:27am Beijing time from a commercial spacecraft launch site in Wenchang, in the southern island province of Hainan, according to official sources.

It successfully deployed its payload, the 27th group of low-orbit internet satellites, into the preset orbit.

The launch marks another step in China’s efforts to expand its low-Earth-orbit satellite internet network.
