Mixed start for stocks: DSE up, CSE down

Dhaka stocks witnessed a slight rise in the first hour of trading on Wednesday, while Chattogram saw a marginal decline.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the key index, DSEX, gained 6 points, while the Shariah-based DSES and the blue-chip index DS30 advanced by 2 points and 1 point respectively.

Of the issues traded during the first hour, prices of 188 advanced, 116 declined, and 88 remained unchanged.

The turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 2 billion during the period.

In contrast, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw its overall index drop by 20 points in the first hour.

Out of 99 issues traded, the prices of 43 gained, 44 declined and 12 remained unchanged, with turnover exceeding Tk 40 million. - UNB
