Russia’s Ambassador has rejected claims the country’s build-up of forces on Ukraine’s border is a precursor to war.

In a rare media conference, Australia was told a lack of understanding and irrational support risked fanning hysteria.

“Our troops are not a threat; they are a warning to Ukraine, not to try any reckless military adventures,” Russia’s Ambassador to Australia Alexey Pavlovsky said.
