Nearly one million taxpayers have registered to file income tax returns online via the National Board of Revenue’s (NBR) e-Return portal (www.etaxnbr.gov.bd). So far, over 200,000 income tax returns have been successfully filed online, according to the NBR’s announcement on Tuesday.
The NBR has encouraged all taxpayers to leverage the online system for a smooth and hassle-free filing experience. To facilitate this, the e-Return system for the 2024-2025 tax year allows individuals to prepare, submit, and pay their taxes online through multiple payment options, including internet banking, debit or credit cards, and mobile banking.
Taxpayers using the portal can also download and print copies of their filed returns, payment receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates. For those who need prior records, the platform allows users to access and print previously filed e-Returns.
To assist with any e-Return issues, the NBR has launched a dedicated call center at 09643 7171 71, available during office hours. This support is further strengthened by the recent training of IT representatives from all ministries and departments, who are equipped to assist employees in navigating the online filing process.
For added convenience, taxpayers can report any e-Return issues through the portal’s eTax Service option or seek guidance from an instructional video available on the NBR’s website, YouTube channel, and Facebook page.
Registration on the e-Return platform requires a biometric SIM card linked to the taxpayer’s national ID. Taxpayers can confirm this linkage by dialing *16001#. Those without a registered SIM can obtain one to complete their registration.
The NBR has also made online tax filing mandatory for all government employees within the tax jurisdictions of Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Gazipur, and Narayanganj City Corporations, as well as employees of scheduled banks, mobile telecom providers, and multinational companies.
To further enhance user experience, the e-Return portal has undergone several updates, including improvements to the registration process, making it more taxpayer-friendly.
