The authorities of Dhaka University today decided not to scrap first-year honours admission tests for 'Gha' unit.

The authorities of Dhaka University today decided not to scrap first-year honours admission tests for 'Gha' unit, under the social science faculty, only for the 2021-2022 academic year.

"Honours entry test for ‘Gha’ or ‘D Unit’ under the social science faculty of Dhaka University (DU) is not being scrapped for the time being," Prof Zia Rahman, dean of Social Science faculty, told BSS.

The decision was taken at a meeting of University's deans committee held today with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

On  February 7, the DU authorities decided not to hold any first-year honours admission test for ‘Gha’ unit anymore merging Arts faculty, social science faculty and law faculty under 'Kha' (B) unit.

However,  amid much criticism and protests by students, teachers and different organisations, the university finally  decided to hold honours entry test for ‘Gha’ or ‘D Unit’ -- under the social science faculty -- only for 2021-2022 academic year.
