The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul and the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) have concluded a two-day semiconductor roadshow in South Korea aimed at strengthening international collaboration and positioning Bangladesh within the global semiconductor supply chain.

Held on May 12 and 13, the programme focused on attracting technological cooperation, developing skilled talent and exploring opportunities in semiconductor design, advanced packaging and electronics manufacturing.

A 12-member delegation led by BSIA President M A Jabbar took part in a series of meetings with Korean semiconductor design companies and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association.

One of the key events of the roadshow was a banquet reception at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo, where Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil highlighted the growing opportunities for cooperation between the semiconductor industries of Bangladesh and South Korea.

The ambassador also referred to the Asian Development Bank’s proposed long-term economic corridor stretching from Teknaf to Tetulia, describing it as a potential future hub for high-tech industrialisation and semiconductor-related industries.

BSIA President M A Jabbar said Bangladesh aims to enter the global semiconductor ecosystem through strategic sectors such as design verification, embedded systems and advanced packaging technologies.

Technical sessions during the roadshow featured discussions on semiconductor innovation and industry development, including presentations from leading technology firms and researchers.

Representatives from several Bangladeshi companies, including Dynamic Solution Innovators, Ulkasemi and Siliconova Limited, showcased their capabilities and ongoing projects in the semiconductor sector.

On the second day of the programme, the delegation held meetings with officials from major South Korean technology and research organisations, including the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, SK Hynix and Hana Micron.

A major outcome of the roadshow was the signing of a Letter of Intent between the KAIST Global Commercialization Center, the Center of Research Excellence on Semiconductor Technology and BSIA to promote joint research, talent development and capacity building in the semiconductor industry.

Officials said the initiative reflects the growing technological and economic partnership between Bangladesh and South Korea and is expected to create new opportunities for Bangladesh’s emerging semiconductor industry through cooperation with global industry leaders.
