Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has renamed the Bangabandhu Satellite-I as “Bangladesh Satellite-I”.

The BSCL has taken the move following the decision of the meeting of Advisory Council, said a media release of BSCL today.

In addition to the satellite, the Sajeeb Wazed Satellite Ground Station in Gazipur and Sajeeb Wazed Satellite Ground Station in Betbunia have been renamed to their original founding names - Primary Satellite Ground Station, Gazipur, and Secondary Satellite Ground Station, Betbunia, it added.

The release said BSCL has started all the activities related to change the names by following the rules of the satellite industry for the international arena, reports BSS.

“From now on, all activities of the satellite will be conducted under the new name,” mentioned the release.

It also said Posts and Telecommunications Division informed the BSCL that Chief Adviser has given approval to the change of the name of the satellite.
