
Dhaka, 17 Sept —Shovon Jamaly Open Tennis tournament, organised by the Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF), begins tomorrow (Friday) at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna in the capital.
A total of 178 tennis players from across the country have so far completed registration for the tournament.
Notable clubs represented in the competition include the National Tennis Complex, BKSP, Jhalokathi Tennis Club, Rajshahi Tennis Club, Sylhet Tennis Club, Madaripur Tennis Club, Jamalpur Tennis Club, Magura Tennis Club, Shariatpur Tennis Club, Gulshan Youth Club, Gulshan Club, Uttara Club, Officers Club, Engineers Club and others.
The tournament will feature four events — men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles and women’s doubles.
Members of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Tennis Federation are working diligently to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony of the tournament will be held on September 25 at the same venue. The name of the chief guest will be announced shortly.
In this regard, a press conference was held today (Thursday) at the conference room of BTF to provide all the details of the meet.
BTF president Shofiqul Islam Sarkar, its general secretary Imtiaz Ahmed (Karen), BTF treasurer MA Jinnah, tournament referee Ali Akbar and Zedan dzed IT Service managing director Mouwammar Ahmed, among others, were present in the press conference. BSS
