Jannat Howladar emerges champion

Dhaka, 1 Jan- Jannat Hawladar of Madirpur Tennis Club emerged champions in the girls’ singles 14 years group of Shahjalal Islami Bank Victory Day Tennis competition held at national tennis court complex in the  city’s Ramna on Wednesday.

She beat Mastura Afrin of Pro Tennis Academy 6-1, 6-1 in the final to win the title.

Meanwhile, in the day’s men's singles quarterfinals, Zarif Abrar of Army Officers Club defeated Tanveer Moon Tushar  of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) 6-2, 6-1, Jawad Mohammad Bhuiya of Uttara Club defeated Farooq Hossain of National Tennis Complex 6-2, 6-2, Mahadi Hasan Alvi [Pasha] beat Biplab Ram  of Nordic Club4-6,6-0, 6-2 and Md. Rustom Ali of American Club advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Hanif Munna [Pasha] 6-4, 6-3.

In the women's singles quarterfinals, Halima Jahan of BKSP defeated Sushmita Senke of Jhalkathi Tennis Club 3-6, 4-6, 6-2 and Subarna Khatun of BKSP defeated Tanjila Akhtar of Jhalkathi Tennis Club 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

In the boys’ singles 18 years group, BKSP's Kavya Gayen defeated his teammate Mahad Bin Malek 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 and Md Sayem defeated BKSP's Subit Barua 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the final.

In the girls’ singles 18 years group, Halima Hazan of BKSP defeated Sumna Bakshi of Advocate Abdus Salam Tennis Complex 6-2, 6-1 and Jannatun Ferdous Mitu of BKSP defeated Yana Koreishi Chowdhury of Naogaon Tennis Club 6-3, 6-1 to reach to the finals.

In boys singles 14 years group, BKSP's Kavya Gayen beat his teammate NH Talukdar 6-0, 7-5, BKSP's Tahmid Jamjid beat his teammate Intesar Hasin 6-2, 6-4, BKSP's Zubair Islam beat his teammate Sabir Islam 6-2, 7-6 and Md Akash Hessen of Pro Tennis Academy advanced to the semi-finals by defeating BKSP's Parth Samaddar 6-3, 7-5.
