KU VC vows to build green campus
Khulna University (KU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mahmud Hasan has said a beautiful green campus will be formed .
Khulna University (KU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mahmud Hasan has said a beautiful green campus will be formed through massive tree plantation as a part of building 'Smart Bangladesh' announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"Tree plantation is important in decreasing carbon emissions, reducing global warming and maintaining ecological balance," he said while inaugurating a tree plantation campaign at the university campus on Wednesday.
Trees are being planted in both sides of various roads on the campus, places adjacent to academic and administrative buildings, residential halls, newly inaugurated cafeteria, under-constructed Joybangla Bhawan to no-3 Academic Bhawan, the low ground between the Central Mosque and Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Hall, Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall and other places, he said.
The VC said, "We planted over two thousand various kinds of trees last year," he added.
KU Pro-VC Professor Dr Hosneara, Treasurer Professor Amit Roy Chowdhury, Acting Registrar Professor Khan Golam Quddus, heads of different discipline, among others, were present.
