The four-day 12th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organizations (WTO) will begin tomorrow at its headquarters at Geneva in Switzerland.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will lead the Bangladesh delegation at the conference which will continue till June 15.

The ministerial conference is going to be held after a gap of five years since it was disrupted due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Usually the conference is scheduled to be held in every two years. The main focus of this year's conference would be the recovery from the pandemic, subsidy in agriculture and fisheries sector, patents and securing food security throughout the world.

Bangladesh always plays an important role in protecting the rights and interests of the LDCs and other developing countries.

The Bangladesh delegation during the conference would raise voice so that the existing trade facilities that Bangladesh has been enjoying could continue for some years during the post LDC graduation period, reports BSS.
