India has successfully exported 30 tonnes of jaggery from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, to Bangladesh, a country renowned for its sugarcane production. This marks the first-ever export of Muzaffarnagar's GI-tagged jaggery to Bangladesh, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce on March 22.

The export was facilitated under India's Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), with the Brijnandan Agro Farmer Producer Company (FPC) playing a key role. Established in 2023, the FPC includes 545 members, including two women directors, and specializes in exporting jaggery, sugarcane products, Basmati rice, and pulses. The company has received technical and training support from the Basmati Export Development Foundation (BEDF), ensuring it meets international production and export standards.

Shamli MLA Prasanna Chaudhary praised the superior quality of jaggery produced in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, noting its high demand in global markets. He also expressed gratitude to the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) for its continuous support in facilitating exports and emphasized the role of state government assistance in maintaining global competitiveness.

The export flag-off ceremony, organized by BEDF under the guidance of APEDA, took place on January 30, 2025. This achievement follows two previous successes in agricultural exports from western Uttar Pradesh: Basmati rice exports to Lebanon and Oman by Neer Adarsh Organic Farmer Producer Co Ltd. in 2023 and 2024.

Additionally, the Brijnandan Agro FPC is the only one in Uttar Pradesh to receive Rs 4 lakh in financial assistance under the state's Agri Export Policy.
