Hamas has expressed its readiness to show flexibility in order to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement for Gaza and secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region, according to representatives of the Palestinian movement. During talks with Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Hamas emphasized the importance of Israel adhering to the ceasefire deal and reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement. The group also expressed its willingness to negotiate on hostages, including a potential exchange of Palestinian prisoners.

The movement is currently in discussions with mediators, including US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, on a plan to resolve the Gaza conflict. Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif Al-Qanou confirmed this during the talks.

In January, Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire and hostages exchange deal brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, which came into effect on January 19. The first phase saw Hamas release 33 Israeli hostages, and Israel freed over 1,500 Palestinian prisoners in return. However, tensions escalated after Israel suspended humanitarian aid to Gaza on March 2, citing Hamas's refusal to continue negotiations on Witkoff's proposed plan. On March 18, Israel resumed military strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza.
