UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh, Rt. Hon. Baroness Rosie Winterton, met with Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at the Bangladesh Secretariat on April 10, 2025, to discuss matters of mutual interest, focusing on enhancing trade, commerce, and investment between the two nations.

During the meeting, Commerce Adviser Bashir emphasized the importance of the UK as a key export destination for Bangladesh. He suggested that bilateral trade could be significantly increased by eliminating existing trade barriers and encouraged the involvement of the private sector to further drive growth in trade relations.

Baroness Winterton expressed the UK's continued support for Bangladesh, particularly in its ongoing economic reforms. She also highlighted the UK's interest in helping strengthen Bangladesh's trade negotiation capabilities and assisting in the development of its trade policies to support the Ministry of Commerce.

The meeting was attended by British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke and Commerce Secretary Mabubur Rahman.
