Bangladesh and Bhutan are aiming to deepen bilateral trade, with a strong focus on agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, and spices.

This shared ambition was the focus of a meeting held Wednesday morning at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) headquarters in Motijheel. The meeting brought together a visiting Bhutanese delegation and Bangladeshi business leaders to explore avenues for expanding trade cooperation.

The Bhutanese delegation was led by Dawa Dakpa, Regional Director of the Regional Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative Office (RAMCO). Also present were Md Zafar Iqbal ndc, Head of FBCCI’s International Affairs Wing, and Dawa Tshering, Minister Counsellor (Commerce) at the Bhutanese Embassy in Dhaka.

Discussions highlighted the need to simplify import-export procedures, enhance supply chains, and improve port infrastructure to facilitate smoother trade flows. Both sides emphasized the potential for collaboration in untapped areas and called for leveraging each country’s agricultural strengths.

Among the Bangladeshi participants were former FBCCI directors Haji Md Enayetullah and Dr Ferdousi Begum, AM Amirul Islam Bhuiyan of the Bangladesh Agro Feed Ingredients Importers and Traders Association, Md Zakir Hossain, and Sheikh Al Mamun.

Participants expressed optimism that stronger cooperation in agriculture could lay the groundwork for a more dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership.
