37 Firms Get Approval to Export 1,200t Hilsa to India
The Ministry of Commerce has granted conditional approval to 37 firms to export hilsa to India ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
A notification issued on Tuesday (16 September) by SHM Magfurul Hasan Abbasi, Deputy Secretary of the Export-2 Wing, confirmed the decision.
According to the circular, the approved firms may export a total of 1,200 metric tonnes of hilsa between 16 September and 5 October.
The approval comes with strict conditions. Exporters must comply with the Export Policy 2024–27, while customs authorities will conduct inspections of all consignments. Applications for future approvals must include documentation on actual quantities exported against earlier quotas.
Firms are barred from exceeding their allocated volumes, with customs officials verifying shipments through the ASYCUDA World System to prevent excess exports.
The approval is non-transferable, and exporters may not subcontract their quotas. The government also reserves the right to revoke permissions at any time if necessary.
