Passenger train derailed in Chattogram, communication continues

A compartment of a passenger train derailed at a rail line in Bhatiari in Cox's Bazar's Sitakunda upazila on Saturday morning.
Soon after the derailment, the train services on the Dhaka-Chattogram came to a halt, said Faujdarhat police outpost in-charge Hasan Mahmud.
He said a compartment of a Mymensingh-bound 'Bijoy Express' train from Dhaka derailed at 10am when it reached Bhatiari.
Following the accident, the authorities suspended the train communication on the route.
A salvage operation is underway, Hasan Mahmud added.
An official of the railway transport department said, "We have alternative line, which is now operational."
