Dense fog caused a two-hour suspension of ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes on Wednesday, halting travel for hundreds of vehicles.

At around 6 am, thick fog engulfed the entire waterway, prompting officials to suspend ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route to prevent accidents. During the suspension, the ferry Gauri became stranded mid-river with passengers and vehicles aboard. Additionally, 12 other ferries were held at both terminals.

Ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were also suspended at 6:30 am due to the fog. Ferries Hamidur Rahman, Shah Ali, and Chitra were stranded between the two terminals, while the Dhanshiri ferry was also stuck in the opposite direction.

Over 300 vehicles were left waiting at the terminals during the disruption. Services resumed at 8 am on the Paturia-Daulatdia route and at 8:30 am on the Aricha-Kazirhat route, once the fog cleared and visibility improved. Passengers and vehicles were able to continue their crossings shortly thereafter.
