Bus services which remained suspended on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi route from Monday morning resumed on Tuesday afternoon.

Khalekuzzaman Shamim, general secretary of Chapainawabganj District Road Transport Owners Group, said a meeting was held with the leaders and activists of Rajshahi Bus Owners Association at Rajshahi Bus Owners Association building in the afternoon.

After the meeting the leaders decided to resume bus services around 3 pm today.

Bus services on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi route remained suspended since Monday morning following a dispute between transport workers of the two districts.

Anarul Islam, a leader of transport workers in Chapainawabganj, said the workers and bus drivers of both Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi route were locked into an altercation over a trifling matter on Friday.

At one stage, the transport workers and bus drivers from Rajshahi route beat up a driver on Chapainawabganj route mercilessly.

Protesting the assault, a bus from Rajshahi was vandalised in Chapainawabganj, he said.

As a result, all direct passenger bus services between the two districts have been suspended, reports UNB.
