Six fishermen went missing while nine others were rescued four days after a trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal.

Quoting fishermen, Mahmud Hasan, officer-in-charge of Mahipur Police Station, said Abdur Rashid Majhi along with 14 others went to the Bay of Bengal for fishing on Thursday.

On Friday morning, the trawler capsized in the Bay due to inclement weather and got twisted, leaving one missing.

However, the remaining 14 fishermen started floating using bamboo and floats when five others went missing.

Those who went missing were Abdur Rashid, Nazrul Islam, Rafique, Idris, Harun and Kalam.

On Monday night, nine fishermen were rescued after seeing them drifting in the Bay of Bengal.

On July 26, owner of the trawler, Kishore Hawlader, filed a general diary (GD), mentioning that some fishermen went missing, reports UNB.

Efforts are underway to locate the six missing fishermen, said the OC.
