An elderly couple died from electrocution at their home in Ulipur municipality of Kurigram on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Abu Sayeed, 68, and his wife Rabeya Begum, 60, residents of Baldipara village.

Locals said Abu Sayeed came in touch with a live electric wire around 2:30pm when he touched a switch on an electrical board at his house.

Seeing her husband in distress, Rabeya rushed to his rescue. However, she was also electrocuted when she tried to free him without taking safety precautions, leaving both dead on the spot, reports UNB.
