Twin babies drown in pond in Cumilla

Twin 18-month-old babies drowned in a pond near their home in Barura upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Junaira and Taslima Akter, twin daughters of Jasim Uddin of Kachiapukuria village in the upazila.
According to local residents, the two children were playing near their home in the morning. At one point, they fell into a nearby pond unnoticed by family members.
When the family members could not find the children after some time, they started searching for them. Later, they spotted the twins in the pond and quickly rescued them.
They were taken to Barura Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
Barura Thana Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter, reports BSS.
