18-month-old twins drown in Cumilla pond

Cumilla, Sept 8 - Two 18-month-old twin sisters drowned in a pond in Barura upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Junaira and Taslima, daughters of Jasim Uddin of Kachiapukuria village in the upazila, said Kazi Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge of Barura Police Station.
Locals said the two sisters were frolicking near their house when they accidentally fell into a nearby pond unnoticed.
Family members and locals searched for the children for a long time. At one point, they found the twins floating in the pond and rescued them.
They were taken to Barura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead. - UNB
