The deceased were Rafiqul Islam, 63, Aklima Rahman, 33, and Hasna Ranu, 27.
With the death of two more people, Khawja Tower, a high rise building in Mohakhali's Amtoli, fire death toll rose to three.
The deceased were Rafiqul Islam, 63, Aklima Rahman, 33, and Hasna Ranu, 27.
Rafiqul Islam was the engineer of a company housed at the fire-ravaged 13-storeyed building. He fell sick due to huge smoke inside the office after the fire broke out. Around 11:40pm on Thursday, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconcious state. The on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival, said the hospital police outpost in-charge inspector Bachchu Miah.
Rafiqul was the resident of Mirpur.
Meanwhile at about 12:30am on Friday, Fire Service men recovered a body, identified as Aklima Rahman, from the 11th floor of the building.
Confirming the death news, Banani Police Station OC said Aklima worked at a organisation on the 9th floor of that high-rise building.
A woman, identified as Hasna Hena, worked on the eighth floor of the building. Being panic stricken, she tried to come down from the fire-ravaged building by holding a wire but fell down on the ground and died.
The 27-year-old worked at the sales department of Orbit Limited, an internet service provider (ISP), housed at that muti-storeyed building.
In a press conference at 12 midnight, the Fire Service DG said that fire is still burning inside. There are batteries, stores, cables and switches. As the 12th to 14th floors are too much decorated, it will take time to extinguish the fire fully.
