A father and his son among 3 electrocuted in Kurigram

Kurigram, Jul 1 -Three people including a father and his son died of electrocution Ulipur and Rajarhat upazilas respectively of Kurigram on Sunday.

The deceased were Abu Taher, 55 and his son Rasel Mia, 17, of Lalmasjid area under Daldaliya union parishad (UP) of the Ulipur upaizla and one autorickshaw driver Azad Ali, 55, a resident of Khitabgao Purbotari village under Gharialdanga union of the Rajarhat upazila.

Daldaliya UP Chairman Liakat Ali said Rasel was working on the household electric board in the evening when he accidentally got electric shock and screamed for help. His father rushed to save him but the both of them died of electrocution on the spot around 7pm.

Ulipur police station’s Officer-in-Charge Golam Mortuza said being informed a team was sent for investigation.

In another incident, Azad, a 3-wheeler driver, came into contact with live electric wirewhile charging his vehicle at his house, and was critically injured.

Family members rushed him to Rajarhat Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead. Resident Medical Officer Dr. Ahsanul Karim confirmed the death. - UNB
