Girl, 12, dies slipping in mud after being chased by dog

A 12-year-old schoolgirl died tragically in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday after being chased by a dog.


The deceased was identified as Sohagi, daughter of Abdul Hamid Chowdhury of Moulvipara area in the district town and a fifth grader at Shishu Kalyan Primary School.

Family members said the incident happened around noon when Sohagi was returning home from school and a street dog suddenly chased her.

Out of fear, she started running and slipped in mud-water in the yard and got fatally injured.

She was rushed to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Dr. Amit Sarkar of the hospital’s emergency department said that the child had already died before being brought to the hospital.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Jalal Uddin of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station said that the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy and would be handed over to the family after post-mortem, reports UNB.
