Two children drown in Lakshmipur

Two children drowned in a pond at Udmara village under Raipur upazila of the district on Sunday evening.
The deceased were identified as Sabiya Akhtar, 9, daughter of Nurnubi Matabbar, and her cousin Nafisa, 10, daughter of Rahman Matabbar. Both were residents of the same area.
According to police source, the two children were taking a bath in a pond near their house when they went missing. Later, they were found floating in the water. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Raipur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared them dead, reports BSS.
Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Police Station Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the incident.
