Mother commits suicide after killing 5-yr-old son in N’ganj

Dhaka, Oct 11 - A 22-year-old woman allegedly took her own life by consuming poison after killing her five-year-old son in the Kanchpur area of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district on Friday night, reportedly over a family feud.
The deceased were identified as Mitu, wife of Rajib Hawladar, a daily wage earner, and their son Rohan.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police camp, quoting Mitu’s mother Nur Sahara Begum, said Mitu and her son were brought to the hospital in an unconscious state around 9:30pm. Doctors there declared Rohan dead upon arrival.
Mitu was later taken to a private hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead around 11pm.
According to her mother, Mitu had consumed poison along with her son following a family dispute. - UNB
