The hanging body of a housewife was recovered from a residence in Dhanmondi-15 Staff Quarters area under Hazaribagh Police Station in Dhaka on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Taharim, 20, the daughter of Md Hafiz Uddin of Dirakati area under Sadar upazila in Jhalakathi district. She had been living with her husband, Md Sabbir Hossain, at the staff quarters.

Family members said they found her unconscious, hanging from a ceiling fan in her room in the evening, and she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared her dead around 7pm.

Her husband told police that following a family dispute, Taharim went into her room and took her own life by tying a scarf around her neck and hanging herself from the ceiling fan. She was short-tempered, reports UNB.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue and Hazaribagh Police Station has been informed.
