Humid Conditions Persist in Dhaka, Rain Likely Today

Humid conditions have been prevailing in the capital since morning, with partly cloudy skies and a possibility of rain or thundershowers, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The forecast for Dhaka and its adjoining areas, valid until 6pm on Wednesday, September 16, said the sky may remain partly cloudy to temporarily cloudy. Rain or thundershowers may occur during the period.

Winds may blow from the south or southwest at a speed of 8–12 kilometres per hour. Daytime temperatures may fall slightly.

In its nationwide forecast issued earlier, the meteorological office said temporary gusty winds accompanied by light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in some places across Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and in one or two places in Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at places in Rangpur, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions.

A mild heatwave is sweeping across Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, as well as Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Kishoreganj, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal and Patuakhali districts. The heatwave may ease in some areas.

Day and night temperatures across the country may fall slightly.

For the 24-hour period from 6pm on Wednesday, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and in one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures across the country may remain nearly unchanged during that period.
