Dense fog reduced visibility in the morning.

Dhaka, Feb 3 - Six international flights had been diverted to Sylhet and Kolkata airports due to heavy fog at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka.

Airport authorities reported that dense fog forced the diversion of two Kuwait Airways flights from Kuwait City and a Salam Air flight from Muscat to Kolkata, while three other flights were redirected to Sylhet on Monday morning.

“Due to dense fog, several flights had been diverted to Kolkata, but operations have now returned to normalcy, with the diverted flights landing in Dhaka after 9 am,” said Shahjalal Airport Executive Director, Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam.

Between Sunday midnight and 9 am, around 16 flights were delayed or unable to take off or land on time due to the thick fog.

These included flights from Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Dubai, Muscat, Rome and Jeddah, Emirates Airlines flights to Dubai, Gulf Air flights to Bahrain, US-Bangla Airlines flights to Dubai, Doha, Sharjah, Jeddah, and Singapore, Drukair flights to Paro, and several other routes. - UNB
