Deep depression over Bay, signal 3 for sea ports
The National Disaster Response Coordination Centre (NDRCC) today issued a warning as a deep depression formed over the west-central and adjoining north-western Bay of Bengal.
According to the latest NDRCC update at 12 pm, the depression was positioned about 835 kilometers southwest of Chattogram sea port and 810 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar sea port.
The depression is expected to move towards India's Andhra Pradesh coast and cross near Gopalpur in Odisha, close to Paradip, around 9 pm today.
Maximum wind speed within 50 to 60 kmph is forecast, while sustained winds of 48 kmph were recorded near its center.
The sea remains very rough around the depression's core, the NDRCC bulletin said.
As a precautionary measure, maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number 3, the Press Information Department (PID) stated.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the Bay of Bengal have also been directed to remain in shelter until further notice, reports BSS.
