National Zoo to be modernized - Fisheries and Livestock Advisor

Dhaka, January 29: Calling for work to solve the zoo's problems on a priority basis, Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar said that the National Zoo will be modernized for the people. A master plan for the development of the zoo will be implemented in phases.

The advisor said these things in her speech as the chief guest at an information sharing meeting on 'Current Status and Future Plans of Bangladesh National Zoo' at the Interpretation Center of Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur today.

The advisor said that investing in the zoo brings returns. He directed to quickly implement necessary measures in this regard, including building a wall for zoo security, filling the shortage of manpower. She called for recording detailed descriptions of each animal at the tourist spot for the convenience of the people.

The meeting was chaired by Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr. Md. Abu Sufian and attended by Director of Bangladesh National Zoo Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Talukder, Director of the Department of Livestock Dr. ABM Saifuzzaman, Director of the Central Poultry Farm Zeenat Sultana, Poultry Geneticist Dr. Vivek Chandra Roy, among others. – PID Handout
