Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of work, Umrah, and family visit visas for citizens of 14 countries—including Bangladesh—effective from May 31 to June 30.

The decision, issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, also affects applicants from Pakistan, India, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Morocco.

According to ministry officials, no new work or Umrah visas will be processed during this period. Additionally, individuals who obtained visas before May 31 but have not yet entered the Kingdom may face entry restrictions while the suspension is in effect.

The move comes as part of efforts to ensure an organized and secure flow of Hajj pilgrims during the peak travel period. This year’s Hajj pilgrimage began on June 4 and concluded on June 7, with millions of pilgrims scheduled to depart Saudi Arabia by the end of the month.

Officials explained that the 14 affected countries represent the highest volume of work visa applicants to the Kingdom, which has necessitated temporary restrictions to manage logistical pressures and maintain order throughout the Hajj season.

Saudi authorities have urged affected travelers and agencies to stay informed through official channels and to refrain from making travel arrangements until the suspension is lifted.
