As part of its special combing operation against Aedes mosquitoes that carry dengue diseases, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Wednesday conducted a drive at 97 educational institutions in Dhaka.
In coordination with the DSCC's Health Department and Waste Management Department, it started the special drive from yesterday due to the sudden spate of the dengue fever resulting in severe causalities in Dhaka elsewhere across the country in recent rime.
The DSCC's concerned departments last day conducted drive at 98 educational institutions here as part of increasing awareness campaign with distributing leaflets among students to prevent dengue.
In the campaign, the authorities concerned are taking special care at the premises and surroundings of the educational institutions whether these are cleaned or not.
Besides, bleaching powder is being sprinkled there if necessary while larvicide and adulticide activities are being conducted in those educational institutions with the participation of the officers and employees of the city corporation, school authorities and teachers concerned.
As part of the campaigns today, cleanliness drive was conducted in 97 educational institutions, including 11 venues in Region-1, 12 in Region-2, 25 spots in Region-3, 13 in Region-4, 16 in Region-5, 3 in Region-6, 3 in Region-7, 5 in Region-8, 5 in Region-9 and 4 institutions in Region-10.
The ongoing drive would continue in all educational institutions in phases, said a release today.
Meanwhile, DSCC Mobile Courts today fined 12 establishments Taka 1:25 lakh on charge of getting Aedes Mosquitoes Larva.
