The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) started to apply Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) pesticide to destroy mosquito larvae from Monday.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said after completing all procedures, we have started using the insecticide Bti, which will destroy mosquito larvae without hampering the environment. An expert team from Singapore has talked to the health department of the DNCC.

Bti is a group of bacteria employed as a biological control agent for the larval stages of specific dipteran species. Toxins produced by Bti are effective in eliminating a variety of mosquito species.
