The probe, initiated by Milan prosecutors, investigated Google’s failure to pay taxes on earnings generated in Italy between 2015 and 2019, particularly from advertising revenues. The inquiry also pointed to the company’s use of servers and other infrastructure in Italy.
In a statement, Google confirmed the settlement, calling it a resolution to the tax audit "without litigation."
This settlement follows a similar resolution in France, where Google paid over $1 billion to settle a long-running tax fraud dispute.
