Trump Announces Decision on Iran to Be Made Soon
US President Donald Trump has stated that a decision regarding Iran will be made in the near future.
"We'll be making a decision on Iran very quickly," Trump told reporters during a flight aboard Air Force One.
The latest developments come after the first round of consultations between US and Iranian representatives took place in Oman on April 12, aimed at addressing the Iranian nuclear program. The Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, met with a US team headed by Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff. According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, the meeting was described as both constructive and calm, with both sides agreeing to continue the dialogue.
A second round of discussions is slated for April 19. However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei revealed on Sunday that the location of the next round of talks may not remain in Oman, though the country will continue its role as mediator. Sources close to the negotiations, including Axios, have indicated that the US administration has proposed a change of venue, with Rome being considered as the potential site for the next round of indirect talks between the two nations.
