Eleven kindergarten teachers lost their lives when a dump truck carrying construction materials crashed into a minibus on a downhill road in Central Java, Indonesia, on Wednesday.

The accident occurred in Kalijambe village, Purworejo district. After colliding with the minibus, the truck went off course and smashed into a nearby house.

The minibus was transporting teachers from Magelang district who were travelling to attend a funeral in Purworejo.

“The truck allegedly lost control before striking the minibus,” said Purworejo’s police chief. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Several ambulances transported the bodies and injured victims—including the truck driver and the house owner—to a nearby hospital.

Deadly road accidents are common in Indonesia, often due to poor road conditions, weak enforcement of safety regulations, and mechanical failures.

The tragedy comes just a day after a bus carrying 34 passengers overturned in West Sumatra, killing at least 12 people. Last year, 11 students died in a similar crash near Jakarta after a school bus lost its brakes.
