At least 18 people have died and dozens are missing after a tourist boat carrying over 50 people capsized on Saturday in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, according to local reports.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of July 19, when the Wonder Sea tourist boat, carrying 53 people, overturned. Border guards managed to rescue 12 survivors and recovered 18 bodies from the water, officials confirmed.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities continue to look for those still missing. Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations.
