3 ‘Neo JMB men’ held in N’ganj


Dhaka – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three suspected members of Neo JMB’s Sarwar-Tamim group from Bandar and Rupganj upazilas in Narayanganj early Tuesday.The arrestees were identified as Abdur Rahman alias Sufian alias Rubel, 27, of Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district, Md Imam Hossain alias Rashed alias Abu Umama Al Bahiri, 26, of Shahrasti upazila in Chandpur, and Syed Raihan Ahmed alias Nasir, 30, of Mymensingh Sadar upazila.On secret information that a group of militants gathered at Langalbandha in Bandar upazila for carrying out subversive activities, a Rab team conducted a drive there and arrested Imam and Rahman, said Lt Col Quamrul Hasan, Commanding Officer of Rab-11.
Following information gleaned from them, the elite force team conducted another drive at Tarabo in Rupganj and arrested Nasir.The Rab personnel also recovered a foreign pistol loaded with three bullets, a machete, a homemade sharp weapon, some Jihadi books and leaflets from their possession.The arrestees confessed to Rab members that they had a plan to carry out subversive activities at different highways, the Rab CO said.UNB news agency
