Dhaka-Bangladesh Cyber Crime Tribunal on Sunday granted bail to three journalists of the banglamail, an online news portal, in a case filed for publishing a report over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and her ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Judge KM Shamsul Alam of the tribunal passed the order after hearing on a bail petition that defence lawyer Priyo Lal Saha filed.
The three journalists are acting editor of Banglamail Shahadat Ullah Khan, executive editor Maksudul Haider Chowdhury and reporter Pantho Polash of the news agency.
On August 7, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the newsmen after the news portal published a report about Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Later, on Monday, a court of Dhaka, sent the three journalists to the jail after police produced them to the court seeking remand to quiz them. However, the court had also rejected their bail petitions.-Court Correspondent
