President of Change Makers Advocate Tanbir ul Islam Siddiqui, addressing as the chief guest at a discussion, said “Everybody has the right to information, but they cannot do so due to lack of adequate knowledge about law.” “Law students should deligantly study the provisions of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2009, so that they can work for ensuring the right”, Mr Siddiqui added
The 3rd year students of the department arranged the discussion program in association with the human rights organisation Change Makers and The American Centre of US Embassy of Dhaka.
Dean of Law faculty Biswajit Chanda, Assistant Professor of Law department Sadiqul Islam Sagar, lecturer of the Dept Md. Shibli Islam, lecturer of North Bengal International University (NBIU) in Rajshahi Dr Nasrin Ruma, among others, addressed the discussion.
Speakers called for ensuring citizen’s fundamental right to information to promote a culture of accountability.
They expressed their opinions at an interactive discussion styled “Right to Information: Tool to Establish Accountability, Ensure Good Governance and Fight Corrupoution”, at the gallery room of the Law department of Rajshahi University (RU) at 12:00 pm on 15 October 2015.
