Install closed-circuit cameras in polling stations: Kh Mahbub


BNP has urged the Election Commission to install closed- circuit cameras on each of the polling stations during the city corporation polls in Dhaka and Chittagong.
“People are aware about the role played by the law enforcers during January 5 polls. So, CC TV cameras must be installed in each polling centre to catch every action of the “golden boys of the government” if they repeat it during the city polls,” said BNP chairperson’s adviser Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain while addressing a rally at Jatiya Press Club yesterday.He said the image of Bangladesh tainted during the celebration Bangla New Year’s Day by sexually harassing women.
“The perpetrators including the members of law enforcers, who were involved in the incident, would be accountable to the people if they are not brought to justice,” he said.
Swadhinata Forum organised the rally marking the completion of three years since the disappearance of BNP leader Ilyas Ali and demanding the return of party leader Salahuddin Ahmed, who has remained disappeared since March 10 when his wife said that plain clothes law enforcers took him away from a house in Uttara.
Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, who is also president of Supreme Court Bar Association, warned that the consequences would be severe if the repetition of January 5 election takes place during the city polls.
Hasina Ahmed, wife of Salahuddin Ahmed sought the cooperation of people from all sphere of life including the prime minister and law enforcing agencies to get back her husband.
Presided over by Abu Naser Rahmatullah, president of the organisation, the rally was also addressed, among others, by BNP chairperson’s adviser Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, Barrister Parvej Ahmed and Abed Ullah.
